HISTORY
When you use Portalloy® chain, you're using the ORIGINAL welded steel chain.  Manufactured for over 50 years by the Portland Chain Manufacturing Company, Portalloy® chain is produced from a medium carbon manganese steel rolled to closely controlled specifications.  The chain pins are made of cold drawn steel which resists wear and corrosion.  Portalloy® link components are joined and precision gas metal arc welded.  This tightly controlled manufacturing process yields chain proven for strength and durability.

Portalloy® chain was developed in 1938 for use in the woodyards and sawmills of the timber industry, but because of its toughness and versatility, Portalloy® can be found in use in a variety of industries such as car washes, cement plants and many types of commodity processing facilities throughout the world.

Portland Chain Manufacturing is now part of the century-old Webster Industries, manufacturers of all types of engineering or heavy-haul transfer chain and attachments.  Webster can readily supply Portalloy® products with production or distribution from three plant facilities and operates its own malleable iron casting foundry.

FORESTRY

Originally developed for use in the forestry industry, Portalloy® offers a full line of chain and attachments for use in woodyards, sawmills, and allied industries.  Portalloy® mill chain is designed for log hauling and other woodyard applications.  All links are joined by heat treated rivets, and links are available heat treated as well, for special needs.  Portalloy® drag chain is used for chip handling, log hauling, and truck dumping.  Featuring an extra durable, two-piece welded barrel, Portalloy® drag chain is available in a variety of styles and sizes.  A wide selection of sprockets and standard attachments is available or may be CUSTOM DESIGNED.
If ultimate durability and strength is required, specify the "Brute" line.   This line of drag and mill chain is manufactured with larger, heftier parts with extra surface area for longer service life.

Portalloy®... Durability and Versatility for the Most Demanding Applications
In addition to the most frequently used applications of Portalloy® products in forestry and mining related industries, this exclusive, durable, versatile chain is applicable in a variety of industries.  Portalloy® chain products are specified throughout automotive manufacturing plants, automatic car washes, cement plant. and in sewage treatment.  Food processors also use custom-made Portalloy® welded stainless steel chain.
Anywhere a transfer and conveying system demands abrasive, heavy haul and long service chain requirements Portalloy® stand up to these rugged  applications.

When you require the best in welded steel chain, specify the ORIGINAL...PORTALLOY®.
